The Call of the Cookie?.... Have you ever heard that call? I have.
Sometimes the smell of warm chocolate chip cookies gently calls my name and I enjoy the chewy goodness of a comfort food.
Sometimes hunger sends me hunting for something to snack on.... and cookies are just so easy to eat.
Sometimes there are no cookies made... and we need to make them... Now!. :)
Sometimes they accompany a little tea party for one.... as a break in the day or a special moment of quietness.
Sometimes they are to be shared with friends and neighbors.... over tea or just on plates given.
Cookies come in so many flavors... of course, there is chocolate chip... but there are also Snickerdoodles, Oatmeal Raisin, Shortbread, Butterscotch Bars, Brownies, Molasses Crinkles, and many more.
A cup of tea goes so well with those cookies. A cup of tea sipped from a pretty cup tastes even better, for some reason. In fact, I have started carrying a china tea cup in my purse when going to a church potluck in the winter, sometimes. I just love drinking the tea... but NOT out of a styrofoam cup.
A small teapot works well for one... my girls have enjoyed bringing such a tea tray to me when I needed extra rest. The adrenal issues I suffer from require extra rest - no, they don't require cookies :) , but there is something special about them. :)
These cookies were made by my 14 year old son... he likes them BIG! :)
Cookies can minster to someone... we can give cookies to show we care and are thinking of someone.... to feed people.... to encourage.... to uplift. Yes, we give breads and other baked goods too, but there is just something about homemade cookies. Yum!
Now, we want to be careful how often we heed that Call of the Cookie... or we will have other problems to deal with! :) But once in a while, in moderation.... listening for the Call of the Cookie.... can be enjoyable. When we use moderation, then we can REALLY enjoy the ones we do eat. Do you ever hear the Call of the Cookie? Thank you for visiting my blog today.... I hope you have a wonderful day!! :)

ReplyDeleteYes, I do. Thank you. I'm glad more cookies were made today. :)
DeleteMy daughter heard the call the other day and a large batch of chocolate chip cookies was the result. And it was lovely to share them with her. A blessing indeed. It's been good to find your blog through the Teaching What is Good link-up. Thank you for this.
ReplyDeleteCookies and a loved one are a good combination. :) So nice to have you visit.
DeleteI heard the call of the cookie tonight....:) I was craving chocolate chip...we eat them with ice cream....I am afraid I did not allow self control to guide me tonight.. they were so good....I love your cup/saucer and the teapot.. I am not a tea drinker as of yet....I know it is so much better for us...Have a great week. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteUm, I heard the call of the cookie tonight also... .in fact, I am eating a frozen chocolate chip cookie right now. :) Thank you for visiting.... it was so nice to have you. :)
DeleteI think I'm hearing the call of the cookie now! I'll have to make some cookies this weekend. I do enjoy a nice cup of tea with my cookies (or sometimes hot chocolate in the winter).
ReplyDeleteSounds great! We are currently OUT of cookies in this house... and they sound good. :) Enjoy your cookie! Thank you for visiting. :)
DeleteLOL Cookies are just plain awesome! My favorite? Toll House Chocolate Chip...or Peanut Butter...or Gingerbread...or...LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with you......there are so many wonderful cookies.... and made with real butter... mmmmm yum! Thank you for visiting :)
DeleteLovely post, and I agree with your son; big chocolate chip cookies are the best cookie ever. :) I can't imagine drinking tea from Styrofoam either. Your blog is just beautiful. Thank you for stopping by and having a look at my crocheted rug. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you.... yes, they are good... although when everybody here has a couple of cookies... there goes half of the batch when they are so big! Thank you for visiting... and your rug was beautiful. :)
DeleteOh yum...the call comes to often. I can turn down other deserts, but cookies call my name. Loved seeing all your "Pretties." ~Pamela
ReplyDeleteCookies do tend to do that... and they are just so easy to grab and nibble on. :)
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed my "pretties".... we really like them, but don't use them enough. :) Thank you for visiting.
Such a cozy post about those sweet concoctions, called cookies, that call out to us, from wherever they may be...and we always manage to hear them, loud and clear! But, for me, their cousin, 'cake', can easily cover any noise that may be nudging away at our ears, and the cookie's is no exception! So, while cookies are cute, it's the puffier texture of cake that is the icing on the cake for this sweet toothed blogger!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Poppy View and hope to see you again, soon!
Happy Wednesday!
Poppy
Hmmmm.... I have never been a cake fan... have had too many dry cakes in my life, BUT the last couple of years, we have been experimenting and learning to love cakes as well... in fact Son #3 is making a Sweet-Tart Lemon Cake right now(recipe is on the blog) and we find that we DO like cake.......AND cookies. :) So glad you visited!
DeleteThe Call of the Cookie is heard WAY to often in these parts!!! Especially the chocolate chip... it is so endearing to us :) Thank you for sharing this "sweet" post on the Art of Home-Making Mondays!
ReplyDeleteHere too.... oh, how we like those.... my son just baked more this afternoon! :) Chocolate chip has to be my favorite.... Thank you for the great link up.
DeleteLovely! By the way, what could you share your recipe?

DeleteCookies look so good, as do the beautiful tea cup. Makes me hungry. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha

ReplyDeleteMmmm, that sounds wonderful. :)
DeleteThis blog post is beautiful in every sense. Pictures, content and well, cookies. I am an adult cookie monster and I know your blog well, so when I saw you on our Tuesday Talk I had to stop by. I am an avid tea drinker also and this post is everything I love, tea and cookies. Thanks for sharing on Tuesday Talk with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful comment!!! God has certainly used you to encourage me today! Thank you. :) I, too, enjoy cookies.... right now I am drinking a cup of tea... but we are out of cookies.... we may have to remedy that. :) Thank you for visiting.
DeleteGiving you a shout out on next week's Tuesday Talk on this post! See you then.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing.... thank you. :)
DeleteI have heard the call of the cookie but this weekend it was the call of the muffin, banana, raspberry and choc chip, Mmm delicious, these were nice with a cup of tea too. Thank you for sharing at Good Morning Mondays. Blessings
ReplyDeleteMmmmm..... I have heard those calls also!!!! :) Sounds delicious. Thank you for visiting. :)
DeleteMost days I resist the call of the cookie, but I do know what you mean when you just have to have a homemade chocolate chip cookie. They do not have any calories at that point!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem to matter if you have cookies in the house... from the store... they are just NOT the same! :)
Delete"The call of the cookie" - I love that! My husband wishes I heard it more often! :D
ReplyDeleteMy husband and kids love the cookies and they sure don't last around here! At least some of the kids make them now also. :)
DeleteIf you ask me, cookies are the universal language of love! :) One of my favorite treats to have around the house. Nothing like a homemade cookie! Your sons look delish. I make mine large too. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I think that's true!!!! It has been very rare to ever find someone who doesn't like a homemade cookie (I have only found one and he was a spoiled little kid who had access to lots and lots of candy!) The large cookies ARE good... but they go way too fast around here. :) Thank you for visiting...
DeleteThose do look wonderful and I agree - sometimes the smell is as good as the cookie! Thanks for sharing and linking.
ReplyDeleteThank you... there is something about a homemade cookie. Mmmm. :) Thank you for the great party.
