As I have shared recently in both blogs, my heart has been heavy... so heavy over the state of our world... over the apathy and easy acceptance of evil. My heart is heavy over the sadness, fear and terror many are suffering.... and yet, I am thankful. God has a plan. He is not defeated. Though I don't understand His plan... or even like it sometimes, I know He is trustworthy... He is worthy to be praised.
Yesterday, as I grappled with some heavy heart issues, I got out a pretty tea cup and had a cup of tea. I have two of these cups, but I do not have the saucers, so I used a pretty hand-worked item under the cup and it looked nice. A cup of tea tastes good and also is a bit uplifting. I especially liked the blue reflections in the tea and behind the cup... it just looked pretty.
God encouraged me....and I am thankful. We are so blessed... and I want to keep that in mind and be thankful each and every day. I don't want to take these days for granted. I want to honor Him.
Anyway, I sure enjoyed that cup of tea... it was just a cup of tea... but it was actually even more than that.
It is funny how a simple cup of tea can help me to slow down, to think a bit, and to notice the beauty of a tea cup. Little things like that can help to change our perspective.
I just realized that a cup of tea sounds pretty nice right now. :) I am choosing to trust God today... I am praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ, who are suffering terribly, and I am going to make this day count.... and I am going to go make a cup of delicious tea.
Thank you for joining me... I hope you are also able to enjoy some tea even as you remember others in prayer.

A cup of tea can do that; help us slow down and ponder many things. That is a happy cup and sipping tea from it would be lovely. Choosing to have a thankful heart can do wonders for our outlook on life and it makes others want to be around you. Philippians 4:8 is an especially helpful scripture for me to think upon when I'm feeling a little blue. Thank you for joining me for tea today and I wish you a beautiful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I agree - and Philippians 4:8 is a wonderful verse to remember and to live by. I am so glad you visited and I hope you have a wonderful week. :)
DeleteEnjoyed your post today! I seem to have a heavy heart lately whenever I turn on the news or when it comes across my computer. Sad state of affairs, but I agree that God has a plan and is in control. I pray people treat each other kinder and love one another. What a lovely idea to use a handmade piece under your cup! As a crafter, I love all these handmade! May your day be filled with kindness.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to read your comment. :) Thank you. It certainly has been a heavy time... so much ugliness.... we do need to keep our eyes on God. Thank you for visiting.. .so nice to have you. :)
DeleteIt is difficult to focus on God's larger plan when the present screams so loudly. I feel myself returning often to Prov 3:5-6 and trying not to lean on my own understanding....That's the Peace that passes understanding. Lovely to have tea with you today. Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

I like the way you phrased that.... "It is difficult to focus on God's larger plan when the present screams so loudly." Well put. God's peace is beyond compare. Thank you for visiting.
DeleteA cup of tea is like a cup of comfort, isn't it? I hope your heavy heart is lightened as you ponder what lies ahead.
ReplyDeleteYes, a cup of tea is like a cup of comfort... :) God's plan is perfect and I choose to trust Him. Thank you for stopping by today. :)

I'm glad it's not just me. :) A cup of tea just seems friendly... and sometimes my girls and I will share a cup of tea as we brainstorm and plan.
DeleteI'm more of a cocoa drinker, but something about sipping when it's calm & quiet that gets you relaxed, thinking. Every day is a blessing!

DeleteWhat a lovely comforting post - love your little cup of tea and handmade beauty showcasing it! There is so much sadness in our world, but I am thankful too that we can find our peace in the midst of the storm - even if it comes in the form of a steaming cup of hot tea! God is merciful to bring peace to our hearts just when we need it... blessings and hugs!
