Dinner Rolls are such a good addition to a meal... and these are even more special because of the extra flavors of cheese and herbs.
You can start with any basic bread recipe... this is the one I use:
Basic Homemade Bread Recipe
To this recipe, add the following ingredients, before mixing it all up:
3 T Powdered Cheddar Cheese
1 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
1/2 tsp dried dill weed
1/4 tsp dried thyme
After it has risen the first time, it is ready to use.
Form into balls... large or small, depending on the size rolls you want, and put them into a greased 9" x 13" baking pan. Top each with some butter and sprinkle an herb seasoning over the top of all of them.
This is the seasoning I make and use:
Grind Your Own Seasoning Easily
Also, sprinkle parmesan cheese over the tops of all of them.
Time to let them raise.....
The butter is already starting to melt on the warm dough... and the herbs look wonderful on there.
After they have raised enough, then
bake at 400 degrees for about 25-30 minutes.
Cover with a cloth as soon as you take them out of the oven... this helps to keep them nice and soft.
Wonderful with butter melting inside...
They are browned nicely... and they smell wonderful! :)
We had these wonderful herb rolls with this meal..... asparagus with cheese, baked sweet potatoes and cole slaw. Marinated chicken goes nicely with this meal also.

Your rolls look simply amazing! I am planning to grow my own herbs this summer, and will add your recipe to my file. It is amazing how versatile your roll recipe is! I currently make a lot of sourdough and occasionally will make regular yeast dough. Have you ever worked with sourdough?
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Monday!
I have worked with sourdough and we love it.... but I don't have any going right now... I got tired of having it set on my counter(I have very little counter or cupboard space in my kitchen)... and we stopped, but we do need to start again. I love the versatility also... so fun to be creative with it. :)
DeleteYum, there is nothing better than fresh baked bread! These rolls with the herbs sound amazing. Thanks for sharing at What'd You Do This Weekend?!
ReplyDeleteThat fresh bread smell sure is wonderful...and the taste? Mmmmm..... Thank you for visiting.
DeleteOh yum! I love homemade rolls and adding herbs would give them such a delicious and unique flavor! Thanks so much, my dear, for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteThey are really good... we all enjoyed them much. :) Thank you for visiting.
DeleteWhat a wonderful place you have here!
ReplyDeleteYour rolls are just beautiful,I can smell the aroma as I write this. :-)
Such a great idea adding the herbs. Bread is one of my favorite gods, but unfortunately I am not able to have it.
I look forward to visiting you again.
Have a beautiful day.
Debbie
Thank you for such a sweet comment. I am so sorry to hear that you cannot have breads... I have to limit them, but not totally stay away... that would be hard to do. Thank you for visiting and I look forward to your future visits. :)
DeleteOh my! " one of my favorite God's" I wanted to say foods. Spell check :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't think that sounded right, but I know some people talk that way... I am SO GLAD you wrote to correct it! :) That automatic speller can be a bit of a frustration sometimes. I am really glad bread is a favorite FOOD and not a god! :) Your comments have made me smile. :)
DeleteYUM! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete~Heather @ My Overflowing Cup
You're welcome... it was a nice change to have these with the herbs. :)
DeleteHi, Joy! I love baking for my family, and your rolls look spectacular. (I see you're a homemaker after my own heart.)
ReplyDeleteI'm snitching the recipe. Thank you for sharing!
Good... I'm glad you're going to try it.. and I hope your family loves it. It is nice to bake homemade goodies for the family. Thank you for visiting... it was so nice to have you. :)
DeleteWOW! those seriously look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you... they have such a good savory taste to them... and the buttery flavor is great. :)
DeleteI miss a great piece of warm yeasty bread, or roll, or pastry! Since going gluten free this is the only thing that I have not found a replacement for. One of these days I am going to delve into gluten free flours and figure it out, there is just so many ingredients needed to replace flour. These look fantastic. UG! I want one!
ReplyDeleteOh, that has to be hard... gluten free does not sound fun. I hope you figure out a good substitute so you can enjoy rolls/breads again. :)
DeleteThese look fabulous! I can just imagine how good they must smell when they are baking!
ReplyDeleteThey DID smell wonderful!!! :) They also had great flavor... I need to bake bread again today... and this is a good reminder to do that. :)
DeleteYour food always looks so inviting and appealing! Thank you for sharing this recipe inspiration on the Art of Home-Making Mondays :)
ReplyDeleteThank you..... that is so sweet of you. :)
DeleteFor a bread-lover like me, it's hard not to salivate while looking at your luscious rolls. Have one for me!

ReplyDeleteThank you.... we sure enjoyed them. :) I am glad you visited.
DeleteI agree.... after being reminded of those, I would love to have one right now... .hot, with butter melted in it. Yum. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Maria
Thank you... so nice of you to say that.... the dinner rolls were yummy. :) I'm glad you visited.
DeleteVisiting from #overthemoon linkup. Fresh homemade bread is delicious, esp warm!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is... we made it over the weekend and the girls and I laughed to see my husband come in the room with a big end of one loaf of bread... it was about 2-3 slices worth! :) He was sure enjoying it.
DeleteThose look and sound absolutely delicious!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful with a big meal... or hot out of the oven... or even as little "buns" for sandwiches. :)
DeleteOh Yummy! They look so good. I have never heard of powdered cheddar. Where do you get it?
ReplyDelete:) gwingal
I bought it at the Amish store. I do not think it is very healthy for us(actually I KNOW it isn't!), but it sure tasted good. I also make the herb dinner rolls without the powdered cheese and they still taste great. :)
DeletePINNED! These sound yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to share this with my Facebook Group for recipes, crafts, tips, and tricks: https://www.facebook.com/groups/pluckyrecipescraftstips/

DeleteHello from Myanmar (formerly Burma). Wow, these rolls look delicious! I love fresh rolls around but haven't made them for awhile now and this will spice them up. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi... it is so nice to meet you! :) The rolls are wonderful and the part I like best is that the seasonings can be changed and they still taste great. :) Thank you for visiting.
DeleteI wish I could eat bread because these look so delicious! Maybe I can make them gluten free??!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you could also... they really are good. I don't know enough about gluten free cooking to recommend, but if I needed that, I would sure experiment. I hope you can come up with a great solution to it... and blog about it... lots of people could use it. :)
